I love to come to office to work. Maybe it is a way of getting away from my quiet and somewhat isolated apartment. Maybe it is because the warm temperature, making me feel much more comfortable than at home. Maybe it is because I sit next to the kitchen, where snacks and bagels are available all the time.
In the early morning, while the sun just arises, I rush to the office. I love the peaceful route I take, where lush trees and woods line by both sides, and rolling hills are close by. Driving along the morning commuters, I feel a sense of belonging. All of us are going to work. It is as if running by side of the other runners, I feel energized.
Sitting in my office, my big computer monitor allows me to open files quickly and read them fast. As I dive into work, writing and researching, I started to forget time. As my body started to sore after 1-2 hours, I walked into the kitchen to get myself a cup of tea. Opening the cabinet, there are more than a dozen of boxes of different types of tea bags. All the glasses are cleanly stored in the next cabinet. The hot water fountain is right there. In a few seconds, I filled my cup with hot water with tea bag in, and ready for drinking. It feels so good.
The joy of work is making progress and seeing things happen. As I move forward with this new system installation, navigating technical challenge and learning new things, I feel very happy.
As the evening comes and sky gets dark outside, I feel very reluctant to leave office. The office feels so warm and bright, so peaceful and so exciting. As I turn off the light in my office, I look back and look forward to coming back the next day.
