Becoming Productive

November 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

By adult age, it is time for us to give back. We are producers, no longer consumers. We are givers instead of receivers.

Some people are constantly producing, giving and contributing to the society. Some people become very productive when very young, like Steve Jobs. He found a way to contribute his talents, and was rewarded on his effort. He stepped into a productive life with his determination, smartness and luck.

How do we become productive persons? The method is simple: Channel your energy to activities that produce results. This means avoiding doing things that are unproductive. Sometimes, this is easy to say but hard to do. The unproductive things can give us fleeting pleasure (with regret as results), and they may become a habit. One thing we can do is changing our habits. Gradually, we move away from the pull of the unproductive things.

The best way to replace unproductive habits is creating productive ones. Instead of regretting or pondering our bad habits, why not create new habits that are good form. Such habits have to be fun, consistent and give us joy. The success of life is establishing such habits.
